American mafia boss convicted of murder

The ruling fell in a court in Boston on Monday that Bulger found guilty of 31 of a total of 32 counts. Bulger was also indicted for a total of 19 murders, but was only found guilty of eleven of them.


For the other eight murders believed the jury that the evidence was not good enough. The murders were committed in the 1970 - and 1980's, and several of the victims were children of Bulgers acquaintances.

The infamous American mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger has been convicted of murder and cases of organized crime.
The now 83 year old Bulger was one of America's most notorious and feared mafia bosses, and he risks being sentenced to life in prison.

He was arrested in 2011 after being on the run from police since 1994. Bulger was when one of America's most wanted criminals.

Sentencing is expected shortly.

Bulger was the inspiration for Jack Nicholson's interpretation of the character Frank Costello in the film "The Departed" from 2006, directed by Martin Scorsese.
